SOS Children’s Villages Canada

SOS Children’s Villages Canada provides children in developing countries who have lost their parents or been abandoned with a safe and loving home, and also helps strengthen vulnerable families.

Through the Villages, SOS offers children a family and a loving home with a mother and/or father to care and support them in a safe environment where their needs for food, health, and shelter are met. SOS Children’s Villages Canada also keeps families together through skills training and community development to ensure self sufficiency and prevent child abandonment.

SOS Children’s Villages Canada – in partnership with Mike Holmes – fundraises to help children in developing countries. SOS Children’s Village BC helps foster children in Canada. SOS Children’s Village BC does not receive direct financial funding from SOS Children’s Villages Canada, as we do all our revenue generation on our own. Our two organizations occasionally work on exciting fundraising events together.

Think globally by sponsoring a child through SOS Children’s Villages Canada, and think locally by donating to SOS Children’s Village BC.

SOS Children’s Villages Canada

Our parent organization is the world’s largest non-governmental, non-denominational child development charity working with children who have lost their parents or been abandoned. It has existed for 70 years with a presence in 136 nations and over 550 Villages.

Every SOS Children‘s Village is a place that children can call home: children live as part of their own culture and religion, in a place where their needs for food, health, shelter and education are met.

The SOS mother and/or father is essential to the life of children in our SOS Villages. They provide constant care, love and support for five to ten children. These women and men, locally hired and extensively trained, provide children with more than a place to live; they provide a family.

SOS Children‘s Villages keeps families together through Family Strengthening Programs, which help parents and their communities to protect and care for their children. Skills training and community development work help parents to become self-sufficient and prevent child abandonment. SOS Children’s Villages offers other programs that support families and children in need. And during times of global emergencies, supports those most affected.

Through SOS Children‘s Villages, kids who were alone and abandoned, or at risk of losing their families, have an opportunity to grow up safe and become self sufficient, better citizens, and better parents. That leads to positive, lasting social change.

The International organization does not support SOS Children’s Village BC monetarily.
